REFRAME ELEUSIS2023

I was selected to participate in Mystery 65 “Reframe Eleusis”, an educational program on photography and visual culture organised by the Hellenic Centre of Photography and Eleusis European Capital of Culture. Run by photographer Myrto Papadopoulos, it invited young photographers from Elefsina and the wider Attica region to create original photographic works that captured and interpreted the city’s unique identity and physiognomy.

Elefsina had long existed in my mind as an inaccessible, harsh figure. At first, my wanderings felt restrained yet covertly surprising, perhaps affirming the instinct that drew me there. Looking through the lens, Elefsina slowly revealed itself as a living mosaic of antiquity, industrialisation and the coastal ecosystem, shrouded in the same enigma. This process became more than just documentation; it made me fall in love with this once obscure place and transformed my photographic practice.

The program resulted in the creation of a collaborative photo zine to be published in 2026.
